Fear Not

Limited Editon Litho   18 x 22.5    $49

The majesty and power of a visitation by the angel Gabriel is captured in this vivid watercolor.  His first words, “Fear not,” calm any heart in need of reassurance, and are inscribed in Greek down the right side of the painting. The name “Gabriel”, meaning “man of God,” is written in Hebrew on his powerful sword… a just reminder that angels are servants of the Most High, just as we are.

  1. hi ms. stafford, i used to be a student of yours at RCS and this painting is still at school, and we all think of you everytime we see it, and we all really miss you

  2. I just purchased one of your watercolors portraying the life/ministry of the Holy Mother….w/ an overlay of Karen Felder’s poem. It is very powerful.

What can you tell me about it?

    • Hi Judy,
You sent a question to me on my website about “Behold the Handmaid of the Lord”. I’m so sorry it has taken me so long to respond. I’m afraid I have not been very diligent in keeping up!
That watercolor was done early in my ministry. Karen was heading the Mother’s Day luncheon and wrote the poem in a very short period of time. When she read the poem to me, I saw in pictures the life of Mary. It was so vivid to me I went home and started painting. I actually hadn’t painted for a long time and was working at a Christian bookstore. When I painted the scene of Mary holding the crucified Lord in her arms I wept. When I finished the painting I took it to Karen and her husband and they just starred at it. I wasn’t sure if they didn’t like it or if they did. Well, they did and strongly encouraged me to do something with it. That’s when I started Marybeth Art Studio and made lithographs of that painting. It was my first litho.
      Thank you for asking!
      Marybeth
